I'm Sarah Andersen, a Nashville-based fashion designer specializing in couture craftsmanship and bespoke special occasion garments. I'm completing my BFA at Belmont University's O'More School of Architecture and Design and will graduate in Spring 2027. My work centers on storytelling, meticulous construction, and the transformative power of clothing to shape perception and build confidence.
I believe clothing is more than aesthetic; it's a form of communication and protection. A well-made garment shapes how someone experiences themselves and moves through a room. That conviction is rooted in the tradition of designers who recognized that elegance and emotion are inseparable: Elsa Schiaparelli, Oscar de la Renta, Alexander McQueen, Maison Margiela, Christian Dior, Zuhair Murad, and Elie Saab. My work reflects these values through structured silhouettes with built-in support, intricate hand-finishing, and a color palette inspired by jewel tones, rich neutrals, and metallic warmth.
I've showcased designs in the Belmont Fashion Show, received the Gaston Scholarship from Alpha Chi for my junior collection, presented twice at the SPARK Symposium, and contributed to FEMME Magazine. I've also volunteered with Nashville's Fashion Is For Every Body annual show and collaborated with MOVE Inclusive Dance Studio to create stagewear for their students. I believe the care invested in craft should be reflected in how we treat others.
Before pursuing fashion design, I served seven years of active duty in the United States Air Force and spent much of that time living in western Europe, where frequent travel and immersion in new cultures shaped how I see the world. During that period, I also began to recognize the deep connection between architecture and fashion construction, and developed a passion for transforming ideas and flat materials into three-dimensional forms. Entering this field from an unconventional background, I bring patience, inquisitiveness, discipline, and uncompromising standards to my work. I deeply value the creative process, artisanal craftsmanship, precise tailoring, and the beauty of seeing an idea come to life before your eyes.
